Today’s Lesson: the IELTS Speaking Test

In today’s lesson with one of my students, I’m giving guidance on practising for the IELTS speaking test. The test is with a certified IELTS examiner, and is in 3 parts: in Part 1, you have to answer questions about yourself and your family; in Part 2, you speak about a topic, and in Part 3, you have a longer discussion on the topic.

Today's lesson: agreeing and disagreeing

In today’s online lesson, I’ll be teaching some of my students about agreeing, disagreeing, and offering an opinion, and how word stress can change the meaning of a sentence. I’ll explain the use of the ‘schwa’ in the English language, and the difference between stress timed language and syllable timed language, and why the difference is important.
